The Muizenberg beach huts are renovated beachfront buildings that date back to the early 20th century. They contain a mix of Art Deco and Edwardian styles. The huts were almost demolished due to their use for prostitution and criminal activities. However, Muizenberg residents drew up a petition to save the beach huts for the purpose of retaining the iconic photographic value of the area. As a result, the famous colorful beach huts were saved and renovated.
